| In spite of the newly announced Graph Search, Facebook lost some
million accounts in the beginning of 2013. Spokespeople explained that
this is mainly due to the ongoing cleanup of fake, spam and duplicate
accounts, and not some drop in popularity. As of January 2013, there are
slightly over 1 billion Facebook accounts, and the deleted ones
amounted to some 76 million. Here are the top 10 countries with most
Facebook users, as of March 1, 2013.....

 |
| 10. Germany

With a Facebook population of a bit more than 25.2 million users,
Germany takes the 10th place. Germany has a population of almost 82
million people, which means that one out of three Germans is on
Facebook. Compared to December 2012, there are 70,000 more Germans on
Facebook.

 9. France

With around 250,000 users more than Germany, France takes the ninth
spot. Compared to the end of 2012, France lost almost 20,000 users. With
65.5 million inhabitants, the density of Facebook users in France is
quite impressive: almost 39% of French people use the popular social
platform.

 8. Philippines

Philippines has one of the highest growths in Facebook users in our
chart: 400,000 people joined Facebook in the first two months of 2013,
raising the total number of Filipinos to 30.2 million. The total
population in Philippines is of almost 95 million, meaning that one out
of three Filipinos are on Facebook.

 7. Turkey

There are 32.3 million Turks on Facebook, 371,000 more than in December
2012. Given the population of around 73.6 million in Turkey, we find
that 44% (almost one out of two!) Turks use Facebook.

 6. United Kingdom

With 32.6 million users, the United Kingdom is the country with the
sixth most Facebook users in 2013. They lost almost half a million
accounts since the end of 2012, probably due to the cleanup we mentioned
about. The UK has 62.6 million inhabitants, which means that one out of
two Brits is a Facebook user.

 5. Mexico

Mexico has 39.8 million FB users and is at the middle position in our
top-ten. They lost 50,000 users since the end of 2012. The country has
more than 112 million inhabitants, which leads to a density of Facebook
account holders of around 35.6%.

 4. Indonesia

There are 48.8 million Indonesian Facebookers, which is 2.2 million
less than the figure registered in December 2012. It is one of the
largest drops registered in 2013 – 4.33%. There are 242 million people
in Indonesia, meaning that roughly one out of five Indonesians has a FB
account.

 3. India

India takes the third position in our top ten countries with most
Facebook users in 2013, with 61.7 million registered accounts, which is
400,000 less than last year’s figure. The density of Facebook users in
India is among the lowest in the world though – only one out of twenty
Indians has a Facebook account.

 2. Brazil

With 65.6 million registered accounts, Brazil takes the second spot in
our chart. They gained almost 1.67 million users since the beginning of
the year, which is by far the greatest increase we have seen recently.
Given the population of 196 million, we can see that one out of three
Brazilians is on Facebook.

 1. United States

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the most technologically developed
country also has the highest number of Facebook users – 165 million of
them, which is 2.5 times more than Brazil, the runner-up. The US lost
3.04 million accounts since the beginning of the year. With a population
of 313 million, we can see that roughly one out of two Americans is on
Facebook.
